Wolverine Kilometer Boot YouTube
Gotta say the stitching on the Kilometer looks generally better than the 1000 mile. I'd prefer the 3rd speed hook of the 1000 mile over the 5th eyelet of the Kilometer but they both look fantastic. CXL isn't always a plus, especially with the grade of stuff Wolverine has been using lately. I'd be very interested in a follow-up!

Copped these Kilometer Boots in Brown on sale for $200 today. I also got a deal on some 1000 Miles but they're a half-size too big so I'll be returning them. I like the Kilometers but Wolverine says they use full grain leather rather than CXL, which explains why they don't feel as soft as the 1000 Miles.

It's Horween vs. S.B. Tannery.They both have very different feels but are both very quality leathers. My personal opinion is that Red Wing's leather can takes more of a beating since they're actually more of a work boot (originally for the Iron Range mines in Minnesota) compared to Chromexcel which is a very soft and supple leather which has a good pull-up but is more prone to scratches.

Like the Iron Ranger it has a 270-degree Goodyear welt and a cork midsole but the shoe aims for the title of all-rounder. It's a pretty wide, to be fair — there are no illusions that this can double as a dress shoe, but the Red Wings are more outdoorsy and knockaround. The 1000 Mile is less eye catching, less unique, and blends more easily.
